What permissions will Certified Licensed Door Processors need to have in place?

Before you can apply to be certified, you will need to obtain formal permission from the Prime Door or Blank/Core manufacturers of your choice to process leaves or manufacture fire doors and door sets.

Prime Door Manufacturer – You will effectively be acting as a satellite of their door manufacturing facility, and they will need to be confident that your company has the knowledge and skills to further process their door leaves. The Prime Door Manufacturer will have made millions of doors (some with glazed apertures and some without) and will have tested them extensively over many years. They will need to be certain that every time you process one of their leaves, you will always work within the scope of their certificate and data sheets.

Blank/Core Manufacturer – They, like the prime door manufacturers would have arranged to have a large number of doors manufactured from their cores and will have had them extensively tested. You will be acting as their door manufacturer. They will need to be certain that your company has the systems and process in place and personnel that have sufficient skills and knowledge, to ensure that every door/doorset you make is a replica of those tested.

Each manufacturer you ask should provide you with relevant technical manuals, training, and support. Be sure to ask for it because their reputation is as important as yours and evidence will be sought during your audit.
